Gas supply to spur new wave of industrial growth

MUSCAT: The supply of gas by Dolphin Energy Limited from June this year is expected to stimulate a new wave of industrial growth and developments in the Sultanate of Oman, it was stated at the SPE EOR Conference held yesterday.

The supply of the natural gas through secure, competitive prices from Qatar to Oman spells good news for Oman as it will lead to the creation of industrial zones and projects fuelled by power generated from gas and will open new energy resources by meeting the growing requirement for secure, long-term and clean energy in Oman.

In September 2005, Dolphin Energy contracted to supply up to 200 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/day) of natural gas to Oman from early 2008 for 25 years. Supply will begin after commissioning of Oman’s new cross-border facilities at Buraimi during June 2008.
